Little Shop of Horrors (IN CONCERT)

Show dates: May 1st-2nd 

Rehearsals: Mondays and Thursdays 7-9p, Saturdays 9a-1p beginning in March

Registration Fee $120

We are excited to announce auditions for a concert-style production of Little Shop of Horrors open to students in grades 7–12!

This version of the show focuses on singing, storytelling, and entertaining an audience — no choreography or dance experience required. We will be singing the entire score and narrating the scenes in between. If you love to sing, perform, and have fun onstage with friends, this show is for you!

Audition Process

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE AUDITION

  • 🎤 Everyone will sing

  • 🎭 Everyone will recite brief dialogue

  • 💃 No dancing required

  • 🎶 Strong focus on vocal performance, character, and stage presence

Audition materials will be provided after registration

🎼 CHARACTERS & VOCAL RANGES

(All roles open and doubling may be considered.)

Seymour Krelborn

  • Vocal Range: Tenor (approx. A2–G4)

  • Description: A shy, awkward flower shop worker with a big heart and bigger dreams. Seymour is sincere, nervous, and ultimately conflicted. Strong storytelling singer with emotional range.

Audrey

  • Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (approx. G3–D5)

  • Description: Kind, hopeful, and vulnerable. Audrey dreams of a better life and true love. Requires warmth, emotional honesty, and the ability to balance humor with sincerity.

 

Audrey II (Voice Only)

  • Vocal Range: Bass / Baritone (approx. G2–F4)

  • Description: A fast-talking, soulful, and sinister plant with a big personality. This is a voice-only role in the concert version. Strong rhythm, confidence, and character vocals required.

Mr. Mushnik

  • Vocal Range: Baritone (approx. G2–F4)

  • Description: The stressed, penny-pinching owner of the flower shop. Comedic timing is important. Character-driven role with spoken dialogue and singing.

Orin Scrivello, DDS

  • Vocal Range: Baritone / Tenor (approx. G2–G4)

  • Description: A loud, over-the-top, sadistic dentist. Big energy, strong personality, and fearless performance style encouraged. One of the most comedic roles in the show.

The Urchins

  • Vocal Range: Sopranos / Mezzo-Sopranos (approx. A3–E5)

  • Description: An ensemble that acts as narrators and a Greek chorus. They guide the story and provide rich harmonies. Strong blend, rhythm, and confidence are key. May be cast as a trio or expanded group depending on turnout.

Ensemble

  • Vocal Range: All ranges welcome

Description: The ensemble helps tell the story through group numbers, vocal support, and brief spoken moments. Ideal for students who love singing and performing as part of a team.
